The founder of Zen Botanics is my beautiful friend Annie.
She always had beautiful skin, however she found out the harmful chemicals we put into our bodies and what that actually does to our skin.
So you may think I am biased because Annie is a friend. Well actually I was so afraid to try the products because the fear I wouldn't like it! Then - what would I do?!
Well I don't have that problem, thankfully because the products are beautiful in quality, they work nicely in my existing skincare routine and surprisingly, I love the packaging. My love for her products started with the Night Therapy Serum. I have been using facial oils for a long time. Organic Argan, Rose Hip, Coconut, Olive, Jojoba oils. My discovery of the magic of oils came from my grandmother, she is someone who only believes in natural beauty & remedies. A vegetarian and meditator, she has beautiful skin, random ladies on the street would always ask me what my mother used on her skin, and I loved their astonishment when I explained, actually this is my 60 year old grandmother! I use to watch her lather moisturisers containing olive oils every night before she went to bed. She also uses coconut oil on her hair (which as a kid I use to think was so daggy & smelly), but I found coconut oil being the only thing to maintain my platinum blonde bleached hair in a decent condition.
Fast forward to high school, I used baby oil to remove any grungey rebellious black eye liner that I had on, because I didn’t have to buy anything, it was there next to my baby brother peter’s talcum powder. I then tried the bodyshop’s jojoba oil when I would save up money from doing chores and winning prizes because I read it somewhere in dolly or girlfriend magazine I’m sure.
The time facial oils made the biggest difference to me was when I had battled with severe cystic acne from ages 16-21, I had read about oil cleansing, then when I tried it, it did just that – it was the most effective way to trick my skin into knowing that I had oils on my face- so that my skin wouldn’t go into overdrive to produce more oil.
To sum it up, I agree entirely with Annie’s youtube video;
When I received her beautifully packaged items from her website; the first thing I noticed was her new rosewater toner smelt divine, I used it this morning to spray on my foundation brush because it contains glycerine (which is what is in MAC fix +) – it is what I use every time I want a flawless foundation application. So her rose mist has replaced my need for MAC fix + in my kit I must say. That was a pleasant surprise. I also have been using rosewater as a toner for years since I tried the jurlique balancing rose water mist, so I am so so happy that this one is a fraction of the price for 100ml of product!
The TLC balm. Who doesn’t love a good multi tasker. I used this on my cuticles & love it for that, also ladies, it is great if you are a nursing mother – it is so nice to use on your nipples – woops feels weird writing that…but why! So no I am not a nursing mother, but let’s just say, it is winter here in Australia – and I like using it there too! As a lip balm this is not the best, but for knees elbows, cuticles, any extra dry areas, I really like this.
The Night Therapy Serum though is my favourite facial oil. I hold it as holy grail status next to my Sunday Riley Luna night oil. (don't make me choose though they are both my babies). Annie's facial oil saved my skin when I was constantly out on the beach & surf in Hawaii. It also nourished my skin on my honeymoon in Croatia and kept my skin from drying out on all those plane trips.
